In The Name Of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful ALFAROOQ ISLAMIC CENTER 615 KENTUCKY ST., BAKERSFIELD, CA 93305 PHONE: 661-324-1380 ALFAROOQ ISLAMIC CENTER PROUDLY ANNOUNCES A NEW SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR 2006 The School at Alfarooq Islamic Center operates as a single, unified, school in which all the teachers and administrators work together in an effort to improve the knowledge and manners of our children. In furtherance of this effort, the Islamic Center recently overhauled the School Program by adopting a new well-defined curriculum and by purchasing all new equipment and supplies for the benefit of the students and teachers. We are very excited about these positive changes and the increased enrollment that has followed. The School at Alfarooq Islamic Center focuses on three areas of study: 1) Arabic; 2) Islamic Studies; and 3) Qu’ran. The school provides four levels of study for students between the ages of 5 and 15. The first level of study combines young boys and girls in the same classroom, while levels two through four have separate classrooms for male and female students. Each grade level is designed to take a minimum of one year to complete (although most students will need to repeat the levels due to the concentrated nature of the material). The school year consists of two semesters and generally follows the public school system’s schedule regarding summer and winter breaks. The school hosts an award ceremony at the end of each semester. All children who attended the school for that semester are recognized at the award ceremony. Parents receive a written evaluation of each student during the middle (midterm) and at the end of each semester (final). The teachers are available to discuss the evaluations. In an effort to try and keep the teacher to student ratio low, we have two separate sessions for Level One. The Level One sessions are on Saturday OR Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – with an optional supervised study/homework session between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. School hours for Level Two are on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – with an optional supervised study/homework session between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. School hours for Level Three are on Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – with an optional supervised study/homework session between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The schedule for Level Four is being formulated in the Spring of 2006, so those who are interested should contact the Imam for further information. The total cost for the school is $45.00 per month for each student, plus a one-time $25.00 registration fee to help cover the cost of the books and other supplies. The students are supervised at all times. Proper Islamic attire and behavior are enforced. In order to register a student, please complete the simple “Student Admission Form” which is available at Alfarooq Islamic Center. |
