A
Short Introduction to Islamic Fiqh Academy
By Atiq
Ahad
Islamic Fiqh Academy, which consists of senior Ulama and
Islamic scholars of the Muslim world, is a very important organ of
OIC. Its objective is to guide the Muslim Ummah, its Government and
organizations in the matters of Islamic doctrine, contemporary legal
questions related to economy, society, family and individual life.
It sits in regular sessions where it espouses its decisions, which in
due course of time get circulated throughout the Muslim world. The
Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), a subsidiary of
Islamic Development Bank (IDB), has done a great job by publishing
the Decisions of the Islamic Fiqh Academy from 1985 to 2000 in the
book Resolutions and Recommendations of the Council of Islamic Fiqh
Academy 1985-2000. This book should be a very important of point
reference for many contemporary practical issues of Muslim life.
