Article 135
PERMISSION TO CARRY OUT REPAIRS
(1) No repairs that involve burning,
welding, riveting, other hot work, high speed drilling, chipping, hammering, or other
similar operations to any compartment or pipe line which has contained petroleum shall be
begun or carried out in any vessel unless a certificate issued from recognized chemist
certifies that he has examined the vessel or such part of the vessel and he finds that it
is free from inflammable vapors, and safe for such operations.
(2) The Canal authority's Shipyard shall be sole judge whether or not repairing operations
can be done.
(3) Carrying up repairs is not allowed for liquefied inflammable gas carriers of dangerous
chemicals in bulk carriers.
